Resolutions

I generally don't make resolutions because I can't keep them although I did once make a resolution to have less clutter in my house and I did really good at that but then I had a kid and that went down the shitter.

Holy run on sentence, batman.

Anyway. I do have some stuff I'd like to do in 2012 like get pregnant (holla!), finish grad school (holla holla!), drop 50 lbs (ha!) but IDK if I want to call them resolutions because then what if I fail? Then in November, I'll look back on this and be all "must lose 50lbs now! oh look, cookies." Because that's what happens to me. So we'll just call them Shit I'd Like to Happen in 2012. Ahem.

1. Finish grad school - I put this at the top of the list because there is a 99.9% chance it's happening in May. You'll know if it doesn't though by the sound of my wails. (note to self: print out that application for degree and make appointment with your adviser.)

2. Go to church more - praise Jesus, I need to get my tail to the big man's house more often. We went to mass on Christmas Eve and without going all preachy on you, my heart felt...whole. More whole than it had in a long time. If that's not a sign, I don't know what is.

3. Get a better job - I have a decent job with very flexible hours, that I am very grateful for, but it's just a job. It pays the bills. I am not happy or fulfilled. If I made gobs more money, I'd probably be happier (I'm just being honest) or at least be able to tolerate it better but I don't. This goes hand-in-hand with number 1.

4. Get knocked up - this is also directly related to numbers 1 and 3.

5. Get in better shape - I refuse to put lose weight because I worked out with a (hot) trainer over the summer but didn't lose weight but I felt better but that's probably because I was still eating whatever the hell I wanted. But that's neither here nor there. I just want to find something that I semi-enjoy that makes me feel better. If my pants just so happen to fit better in the process, that's just gravy.

6. Do more for "me" - I have spent the last three years dedicating every spare moment to grad school, cleaning the house, my family, etc. Totally have no regrets about this but this year I'd like to read more books, bake more pies, and maybe paint my toes once a month. It's the little things, yo.
